Which Digital Camera For My Holiday?.
There are two main issues if you need a new digital photo camera. First you have to have an understanding of what you actually want, next beating the disappointment that a new model might be released at any time. For instance there are lots of searches on the internet for the Nikon D500. This product has never been launched. Simply the fact that it's expected to be the followup model for the D300 causes so many people to look for it. Mostly based on fear to buy the outdated model just because the followup is released.
It can be very hard to choose the right digital camera. Even more since they keep on presenting new models all the time. It doesn't make sense to keep delaying your investment, because you do need photographs of the present moment. Many people especially not professional photographers select a camera by cosmetics and not by technical specifications. Most digital camera owners don't even know 10% of the capabilities of the camera, they just use it to point and shoot.
Actually its quite a challenge to operate digital cameras correctly, they are like small computers. And it requires reading the manuals carefully to get a good impression what the camera can do. And on top of that are most digital cameras also fully capable of high definition video filming. Which is a chapter by itself. It's sure not getting easier.
Now if you want a digital camera for vacation and you don’t know too much about photography, just purchase a compact point and shoot digital camera. Most of them have automated configurations that do an amazing job. It's also recommended to get a waterproof camera. These cameras last longer, specially if you go to countries with a more humid climate. And in case you drop the camera in water or sand, survival chances are a lot higher. It occurs too often that digital cameras quit working during a holiday, and that can be quite annoying. A waterproof digital camera will survive much easier at the beach.
Also make sure the digital camera has high definition video capabilities. This is pretty much standard now, but verify it anyways. Now you can cover your holiday with video and photographs without having additional investments. If you know what you're doing you can absolutely achieve professional results even with a small point and shoot camera. Technology has come to the point that it's often difficult to tell what kind of digital camera was used. So don’t underestimate these type of so called amateur cameras.
When it comes to more challenging conditions like extreme low light, or action, than you may well need a SLR digital camera. But that would only make sense if you learn more about photography, otherwise the results could possibly be even superior with a simple small point and shoot camera.
Modern day cameras are that advanced now that it is very hard to improve them further. Manufacturars try to come up with new functions to create new selling arguments. But in fact it doesn’t really matter any longer. So stop worrying about the next model that could come out. New versions are not often an improvement anymore. Just make sure that you pick the camera that fits your requirements, and you will not regret anything.

I want to buy a Leica camera that uses 35mm film instead of a digital Leica camera, but I dont know how to address what I want. I am afraid that if I say I want an analog Leica camera nobody is going to understand me.
While there are all kinds of detailed differences, a film camera stores latent images on photo sensitive chemicals while a digital camera stores in dital media.
So, to get the camera you want, simply ask for a 35 mm Leica. The 35mm refers to a common film format so no one will think you mean some kind of "35 mm digital" camera. There is no such thing.
